Staff Member of the Month
With a new year starting, I would like to try out a new monthly tradition of honouring outstanding staff members an awarding them the Staff Member of the Month Badge. Essentially, this is a continuation of the very successful Munchy of the Year posts from the past years and I hope that it will give us a good opportunity to shine some more light on the people who deserve it. That being said, the format will be slightly different as I will be nominating the Staff Members of the Month directly rather than inviting the community to vote on them. We will see how this format works out and might make some changes in the future.
I would like to ask all of you to submit suggestions as to who should be the next month’s nominee by sending me a dm. I will take all messages into consideration when choosing the next Staff Member of the Month! DragonsMaker
Even though this is the very first month of this award, we will start with a rather unusual nomination. While @DragonsMaker is a very important member of the team, this nomination is not for his great work on the servers, but rather for the joy he has all recently brought us with his artwork. Some of you may already know Drag as the person who illustrated the Survival keys in our store and are thus aware of how talented he is.
Throughout January, Drag has illustrated countless of fellow staff members as playing cards. They’ve become an absolute highlight in the staff discord and each release was celebrated joyfully. As one of the lucky ones, and in the name of everyone who received a card from you, thank you very much @DragonsMaker. We love you!

KitPvP Highlights!
This month has been quiet compared to last in terms of new updates. Yes, we are aware that you are all waiting for the next season, and no it won’t be much longer. While unfortunately there is not much information to disclose as of this time, expect a different announcement not too long after the release of KitPvP Season V.

Prison Highlights!
This month prisoners have illicitly smuggled in a new drug that is now circulating around the prison… Shrooms can now be grown and harvested in drug farms, and they sell for a hefty price! Not only can you grow shrooms in farms, but there have been confirmed sightings of huge mushrooms growing in the forest during the new Mushroom Madness event where you can make lots of cash!
Ultra legendaries are back once again! Upgrade your ultra rares by collecting 8 of the same ultra with an ultra legendary shard to upgrade your ultra abilities! Currently there are ultra legendaries for the deadpool set, space stone pickaxe and time stone.
When you next prestige, you may notice that you can now boost more stats! You can now boost your woodcutting drops, fishing drops and potion duration with prestige points. You can now further boost your sell and loot multiplier too!
This month saw the introduction of a new legendary and an exciting new mythical rare, so it is time to get looting again!
Finally, the farmers and gamblers will be happy to hear that there are now leaderboards to track those with the most crops harvested and most money gambled at the casino!
As per usual, there were many item buffs and nerfs. You can view the full list of updates and item balancing by typing /changelog in game.

RedVelvetCake Interview
@TheRedVelvetCake is the brains behind prison. As manager of prison, he spends hours brainstorming item ideas and features to be added to each prison map and ensures that it runs smoothly and remains balanced. His love for prison and hard work in maintaining it is unrivalled… There is no doubt that without him, prison would not be in the incredible place that it is today.
With the recent release of map 8 of prison and his promotion to global admin, this month we decided to interview him about his incredible work on Munchy! Click on each question to view his answer.
Questions:
How and when did you start playing munchy?
I started playing Munchy when I was looking for a new server to play in late 2016. I searched “storage wars in Minecraft” on YouTube hoping there was a server where I could purchase a unit full of people’s stuff for loot and found BadBoyHalo’s cell wars series.
What made you decide to apply for staff on munchy?
It was around the end of map 3. During the map after a certain point there weren’t many staff playing, but there were a number of things that would glitch and needed fixing, like people’s prestige getting reset, and I started messaging Antfrost with these issues. He’d come on and fix them pretty quick usually, and I thought I’d apply so I could do the same, fix whatever problems I could while playing the game.
What does your role as manager of prison entail?
I write up a couple dozen documents over the course of the map for just about everything new. I’ve already written about 25,000 words for Map 8 in documents. Varmetek reads them all, adds to them and spends countless time developing everything on prison, and adding awesome details to everything at the same time. The fishing system, for example, I mapped out how it would work roughly on a document and Varm figured out how to make it and make all the nice reward/level up/commands and in-game messages for them look and work amazing. I bug test and balance test every rare and make a bunch of tweaks to it with Varm before they’re added. We aim to get out some kind of update whether it be big or small every weekend. It also entails overseeing building of the map. Map 8’s inside is huge, with four detailed blocks a massive spawn + forest, a brute lounge and casino, and full prestige mines, which in all took a lot of management and oversight and time to build, using 6 different builders by the end to complete. It also entails resolving in game situations, such as support tickets, hackers/glitchers, and dealing with blacklisted players.
I am also helping to manage the excellent prison staff team. I also, along with Varmetek, check for ideas from the idea team and spend a lot of time talking to players about the server about what they want to see changed and what they like about the way things are.
This is the second prison map that you have managed. What is the hardest aspect of developing a new prison map?
It takes a lot lot lot of time to get all of the moving parts together and finished with the build, ideas, and development from start to finish. This last map Varmetek put in a lot of work adding a lot of new features. Forest system, challenges, prestige shop, skills, zones, custom mobs, reworking rares protection, new gang system, new lockdown system, hints, new rarity, and a load of new rares was a lot to add for the release of a new map. The build was also difficult to manage, with some people getting overextended and new builders coming in to help make sure everything got finished in time for release. Each block, A through D were built by a seperate builder, and all look AMAZING. For me, overseeing both of those can sometimes be a lot, and there’s always plenty of bugs to be squashed with big new features and tweaks/changes to be made to builds being built, but the most difficult but also fun aspects of developing a new map has been balancing everything to make sure the rares are how I want them. I try for every rare to have some level of relevance, and so organize them all by the types of utility to fulfill to ensure no armor-piece is being made completely obsolete by another, and then also by balancing items to make sure all aspects of prison (farming, fishing, wood, mining) have their utility and ability to make good profits relative to the others.
How long was the development stage of map 8?
Development for map 8 started in late June of 2020 and lasted up until release in November.
What’s your favourite prison map 8 item that has been released so far?
Epic- Doctor Strange Pickaxe
Ultra- Starlord Blaster (or RPPR’s toe LOL)
Legendary- Venom Tongue
Mythical- Reality Stone
Which prison map has been your favourite and why?
I’m not going to include this map as it’s only been a month, but map 7. The balance of the map I thought was great. I saw everyone do everything; farming, fishing, mining, looting, gambling, etc. and there was a set for them all. Other maps had full mining sets and looting sets but by map 7 seeing the sets people had was awesome. A whole set for cell raiding/buying. A full set for gambling. One for PvP. Like 6-10 rares for farming in people’s farming sets. I would see people loot sometimes with 15+ rares outside. I would see people like Shoblette mining with 12-18 unique rares. The amount of rares that got used and the amount of new content to keep you busy by this point really started to give prison the longevity I think it was lacking in prior maps. Melon mine, an engaging farming system, fishing, prestige areas, prisonbreak, fableds and charms were all new features introduced throughout the map. There were player side issues with people like Faris but I choose to ignore that, and outside of people trying to ruin the fun I enjoyed map 7 and thought it was the best balanced map of any past map.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, I “have” (belongs to my parents) a cute pup named Woodrow. At some point in 2021 I plan on moving in with Antfrost, and hopefully we’ll have our own dog and cat not too long after that.
