How active can you be per week?
I average around 20-30 hours a week, with most of that being spent in the evenings.
My schedule fluxuates with job shift changes, but commonly I’ll be able to spend at least 3+ hours on Surv on any given day.
Do you have any punishments on our network? If so, please describe your side of story:
I have an old X-ray ban on prison from when I first joined. Completely deserved, no excuses for that. Big thanks to @dxlicaterose for being a great Smod there ;)
Other than that, only the usual array of joke punishments and automod mutes for DM spam.
Have you applied for this role before? If so, please explain the steps you have taken to improve as an applicant since your last application:
I have applied for Prison Helper once before. I applied at a time where I was quite toxic and had very little respect for the Munchy community. At the time I wanted to get staff purely to be able to have my word carry more weight and it was very much rooted in my own self-interest. A lot of my past behavior on prison I regret, and I have since tried my best to reset my reputation and become a more constructive member of the community. I joined the Bug and Idea team, and have done my best to contribute to Survival in any way I can given that position. I have also tried my best to refrain from chat toxicity and keep any negativity out of what I say. Taking into consideration how what I say affects others, even in a joking manner, has allowed me to be a more conscientious person as a whole and it’s a pleasant change.
What do you think your reputation is like within the community?
It’s had its ups and downs, I’ve definitely had some serious flaws I needed to fix in the past, but I feel my reputation within the Munchy community is a generally positive one. I am known as a Survival main, but still have made friends across the network within other gamemodes. It is by no means perfect, but I am a knowledgeable player when it comes to survival’s intricacies, and a helpful member of the community. It is a constant objective of mine to try to build it up and become a more positive influence on survival, but I feel that I am accepted and appreciated for the most part.
Why are you interested in the role and what motivated you to apply?
Ever since I joined Munchy, it’s been a huge part of my life. The community here is next to none, and is something I feel passionately about wanting to help preserve and grow. Within Bug and Idea Team, I’ve been able to do this to an extent. I was fortunate enough to get to write dialogues for Mrs. Claus(which was a load of fun) and even had a few crate items ideas of mine added. And if in the end this is the extent of my contribution to Munchy, that’s perfect. But I would love to be able to further my investment into the server by being able to help staff the community and help ensure it stays a healthy and enjoyable place for everyone. I love this community so much and I want others to be able to find it and enjoy it just as much or even more than I did.
Out of 10 (with 10 being very knowledgeable), how would you rate your knowledge on moderating a community?
I’d rate myself at an 8 out of 10. I enjoy preserving order and deescalating situations, and it’s always been something I’ve found I am good at. I don’t get emotionally invested when it comes to decision-making, so I’ve never been one to struggle with balancing feelings and logic. I am a very level headed person when it counts, which I feel is a valuable skill to have when you are someone with any level of authority and responsibility, no matter where in life. I also have experience in moderating Discord communities with 500+ members. I also don’t have any issue being in situations that some may deem uncomfortable, such as dealing with BLed players or just stinky people. Coming from anarchy servers, I have a very thick skin and can take whatever people try to throw at me without feeling threatened or incapable of handling myself.
Out of 10 (with 10 being very knowledgeable), what would you rate your knowledge on Minecraft hacks and cheats, including finding and identifying cheaters?
I would rate myself a 6 out of 10, due to the fact that I have very limited knowledge of anything in minecraft versions prior to 1.12. However, coming from anarchy I’ve spent many hours of my life being around basic to very advanced cheats as well as the developers of many of those clients, so I feel confident in my ability to determine whether someone is legitimate or not, and if not what sort of advantages they may have.
A few examples of these would be:
Visual Hacks: Most of these hacks are going to be more difficult to automod, since an anticheat won’t be able to tell for sure if a player is legitimate or not. There are a few easy tells though. Players using these will have an uncanny knowledge of where any valuable items are, as well as seem to be looking in directions that would be useless without cheats, such as staring into walls or floors intently, in the direction of those valuables. With mining specifically, players who cheat will more often than not have inconsistent mining patterns that just so happen to run into the desired ores far more often than regular strip mining, or natural exploration.
StorageESP - Renders storage blocks through walls, highlighting them. (Chests, Hoppers, Furnaces, Minecart chests, etc)
Chams/ESP - Renders entities through walls, even if they have effects like invisibility
Xray/Search - Highlights desired blocks through walls to the client, typically used for mining.
Tracers - Functions similar to ESP, just draws a straight line from your crosshair to desired entities or blocks within render distance.
Movement Hacks: These hacks are the ones that anticheats can detect far more easily, since they usually cause the player to have very strange movement patterns that don’t happen in vanilla minecraft.
Fly - Pretty straightforward, a functioning fly hack will allow a player to operate as if they are in creative mode, except things like fall damage and velocity can still apply.
Scaffold - This cheat will allow the player to move freely in any direction, and the client will automatically try to place blocks beneath them, with lag and running out of blocks being the main reason these fail. Usually very easy to detect due to frequent headsnaps if the player is looking in any other direction, especially on cheaper clients.
Speed - Player will have increased velocity, and will be able to walk/sprint faster than vanilla players without any potion effects.
Jesus - Ability to walk on water as if it were a solid block surface.
Step - Allows for players to step up full blocks with little to no decrease in movement speed.
ElytraControl/Elytra+/E-fly - Allows for abnormal control over elytra movement. Significantly reduces the fall speed of a player, as well as allowing them to fullstop midair and move around freely, usually an alternative to regular fly. Also allows for acceleration without rockets, so players will appear to just jerkily fly around without using any vanilla means of acceleration.
Timer - Increases client-side TPS, allowing for players to do things at a dramatically increased rate. Certain things like mining blocks will not speed up much, since those exist server sided as well and the server TPS still needs to register that they’ve broken, but things like walking, flying, or swimming will happen much faster.
Combat Hacks: These are specifically used to gain advantage in PvP/PvE situations.
Any form of melee aura - Allows for the automatic targeting of desired entities within reachable distance of the player. Usually used with a sword or held item. Players using this will typically have inconsistent and uncontrolled head movement when in PvP, with it locking on to their opponent often.
AntiKB - Could also classify as movement, but allows for a player to take reduced to no knockback from attacks.
Criticals - Attempts to make every attack you make a critical hit. Easily determined because crits require the player to be falling and produce a special particle, so a player with these enabled would be able to achieve those crit hits without jumping or falling.
