Hi everyone!
Ever since the kit shop changed I’ve seen a lot of people in game ask -
“what’s the best kit?” and “is [insert kit] good or worth the money?”
Since other than free kit mode there is no way to test a kit before purchasing, I’m going to make a tier list and then go into depth about each kits strengths and weaknesses. Keep in mind this is based off personal experience. I’ve played every kit hundreds of times and have been on Munchy for 4 plus years. Feel free to disagree, I might update this depending if or when kits get reworked. I was also made aware that @1BowStringer did something similar to this in the past. I would recommend checking his out. It contains a lot more detail on interactions if that’s more what you curious about. This is just my opinion on each kit in a more simplified manner
Kits are placed based off killstreak potential, evasiveness (running away), and catching runners.

Now that you have an idea of where each kit is at ranked from one another. I’m going to justify their positioning based off each kits strengths and weaknesses. (Not in any type of order)
Hornet contains more abilities than any other kit, which allows for a variety of answers while fighting. Whether it be evading using the Wings. Checking the amount of soup your opponent has in an intense 1v1. Or poisoning using the Stinger, which can keep players from escaping. With Hornet comes a sharpness 2 iron sword (above average). Prot 3 leather!
Ninja …as a warning right now, it’s high skill cap. Although it comes with a sharpness 3 diamond sword (10.75), it completely lacks in armour (rip res 2) leaving you vulnerable to teaming or mosh pits. But with this you’re given speed 2 and an invisibility ability. Making this kit specialize in evading as well as sneak attacks.
Abomination is one of those kits you just try to avoid. The user has the ability to give slowness and blindness to anyone in the general direction in which they are facing (within a close distance). It’s extremely annoying to fight against. If the player knows how to W-tap you might as well run. But running isn’t much of an option when you can’t see 4 blocks in front of you. With this kit you’re given a sharp 2 iron sword (above average). It’s only hole is that it lacks in armour (weak leather) which I believe has no helmet but a wool block instead.
Slingshot’s ability is used for two reasons. Propelling to someone running away. Or to propel into someone from a far, to avoid someone who’s chasing YOU. It’s probably one of the most straight forward pvp kits. It’s got average armour as well as an average diamond sword with sharp 1.
Viper is my personal go to. With every hit there is a 20% chance to give your opponent poison for a few seconds. Which gives you a slight advantage in damage. They will also be knocked upward when poisoned while running, making for a harder escape. The built in ability doesn’t take up any room in your hot bar which is always a nice feature. As far as armour it’s a little below average with enchanted leather. But the sharp 2 iron sword makes up for it.
Glider is one of the best evasion kits. I would highly recommend using this kit when you are going for high kill streaks. I personally used it on my alt to gain a 180 ks and I can’t tell you how many times I got away from targeters and team chases. It comes with average iron armour as well as a decent sword.
Fisherman has one ability: hit someone with your fishing rod, and pull them into you. As simplistic as it may seem, this ability can be used in a handful of ways.
•Pulling in archers that bowspam or people using kits with little to no armour that you know you’ll have an advantage over at close range
•Pulling in anyone while simultaneously jumping over a lava pit
•Pulling in anyone to hit off a ledgeOther than it’s ability, it has average iron armour and average diamond sword.
Bomberman seems like a bad kit. This is in part of its two lack luster abilities. Left click to throw tnt that will explode after a long countdown and in the process not do much damage. Right click someone to place a tnt block inside their inventory. If they do not drop it within a few seconds they will take damage by exploding. The right click ability can be useful in delaying opponents while they look for the tnt block in their inventory. Which can be used to buy time for escapes or critting them out. But what I admire most about Bomberman is that you get speed as well as an above average sword. Overall I think it’s one of the more under appreciated pvp kits in the game.
Ah Crossbow, for a long time it was beyond broken. I still have nightmares from the amount of spam. Nowadays it’s not as good but definitely still viable. It’s armour and sword are below average. But it’s strong suit is the bow itself. It has a built in ability where once you pull a bow the whole way back the arrow becomes an explosive that causes area damage on impact.
This helps with•Keeping back aggros
•Getting killstreaks during events such as KOTH
•Hard counters fish and ninja
Note: missing too many times will leave you with 0 arrows, as you gain more by hitting shots.
Vampire’s placement may have confused some people at first glance, but let me reassure you it deserves to be where it’s at. It’s abilities are unique and I find it one of the more fun kits to play. Getting a final hit on someone will grant you an extra heart, I believe it’s a 1 for 1 deal. Allowing you to stack a total of 5 extra hearts. The left click ability allows for you to send someone flying on a bat ride. You can take advantage of there confusion if they don’t know how to get off the bat or kill it. There is also a bug where the rider has a very low hit delay making for an easy kill. The right click ability makes you the rider of the bat. Control where it goes by looking in whichever direction you want. It’s armour is below average but has an above average sharp 2 sword.
Titan just may be the funnest kit. For every other kill you gain strength, that stacks to eventually 2 shotting anyone. In the process of this you lose hearts making you as weak to the opponent, as the opponent is to your strength. Because of the lack of hearts, you should stay on the outer parts of the map. So you can’t get 2 shotted from behind. I know people like to target red titans (meaning they have the highest amount of strength but the lowest amount of hearts) just to end their killstreak, so I would be mindful of that while using this kit. It also has the iron ingot hulk jump ability. Which throws you about 150 blocks up into the air (approximation). Although it can be used to deal damage to others when falling back onto the ground I would use it strictly for escaping as the ground pound doesn’t do much damage. Titan will never take fall damage with/without using the ability. With this kit you get leather enchanted amour with a sharp 1 diamond sword.
Tip: steer clear from anyone with a bow when below 5-4 hearts. I use archer/crossbow to kill any rampaging red titans bothering me, it’s very efficient.
Now Rider is arguably the best evading kit. The setback comes along with the armour and sword just being slightly below average. Not to mention that glider allows you to evade by flying which would leave a lot of chasers to just give up. Although you will out run any other kit in the game using your spawned in horse ability. Other then the horse there’s really nothing to it.
Snail grants the user a 20% chance to give slowness to the opponent after each hit. It leaves the slowness victim annoyed as you strafe side to side while they feel stuck in place. Below average armour (enchanted leather), but an above average sword.
Jester you know what… I lied. Jester has the most abilities. You’re given a diamond hoe at which you can use for the following abilities:
Crouch left click - infinite snowballs. Good for trolling.
Drop hoe - randomizes inventories of everyone in your radius. This is probably the most effective ability. Most player use hot keys to soup and once their sword is in the 8 spot it makes it hard to fight.
Left click - opens up inventories of everyone in your radius. I would not recommend using your cool down on this, it seems most players know how to click out of their inventories in under 2 seconds.
Right click - flips the opponents head in a random direction. Good for evading chases.
(Note: I didn’t fact check this part, all based off memory.)
You are given an effect that gives you a higher hit speed. Below average armour (all leather), average sword. This kit is a lot of fun but lacks in the pvp department.
Fish is a very niche kit. Grants you with high strength in water, leaving everyone a 3 shot. However a fish out of water is… terrible. Don’t ever try to 1v1 someone outside of the water unless their minecraft crashed. You will be targeted out of water and most likely die to even a skeppy fan. It is good for farming killstreaks, as no one can mess with you when you’re in water (other than crossbow and fishermen so fourth). In water you are also given a speed perk.
The idea of a Thor kit sounds awesome.
But in all honesty it’s not all that great. It’s abilities include: left click throw your hammer! Hitting the opponent does half a heart of damage with a chance of hitting them on the way back. The right click ability strikes lightning wherever you aim dealing about 2.5-3.5 hearts. It comes with decent iron armour and an above average sharp 2 iron sword.
Tank is a very simplistic kit. You’re given full diamond, but instead of a helmet you get a tnt hat. A sharp 1 diamond sword. Along with slowness. Always having slowness is a big turnoff especially when trying to run or refill. But it’s excellent armour makes up for it during the fight itself. There’s also an explosion for anyone you get a final hit on, it does do damage but it’s more for show.
There’s only really one way to use Portal in kitpvp… and that’s trapping. Setting your first portal with left click in front of spawn, then setting your second portal in a spot to crit. Such as a lava pit, off a cliff, or under a one block high hole so that you can crit them out while they’re suffocating in the wall. I’ve seen many people get 100+ killstreaks using this kit. I would just like to warn you that if players find out where your second portal is hidden they will camp it or just try to kill you. The other way to use portal is annoying a chaser so much that they give up. This is done by placing a portal behind you, running past it, then placing your second one. And forever running into a straight line portal to portal. The kit armour itself is poor, and you have an average sword.
Falcon is more of a evading kit then it is pvp. It’s only ability is flight. As cool as it sounds there’s not much to do with that ability other than annoy people from above (hitting them once or twice and then flying away). If you get hit you will be taken out of flight mode, and if you are higher than 30 blocks you will most likely die from fall damage. There’s a 10 second cool down in between getting hit and flying again. It’s not great at getting kills because it lacks in armour (leather) with an average sword.
Screecher has a lot of potential to be good if used correctly. Its ability being withering players in your radius for a couple of seconds. This can be especially helpful against players that use texture packs were withering makes their hearts black (unable to see own health). Being a victim of this you just rapidly spam soup hoping your not at 2 hearts.
Shrek kit as the name suggests is a meme in itself. You’re given an emerald block that grants you the ability to pick up and throw players across the map. While holding the emerald block you also get jump boost 2. Jump boost has been proven helpful in my experience for jumping up mountains or over ponds and lava pits. The armour is below average, top half leather bottom half iron and has an average sharp 1 diamond sword.
Dash used to be a pretty solid kit. I feel ever since they nerfed the distance you can zoom by, it hasn’t been the same. You’re given below average leather armour with an above average sharp 2 iron sword. Your ability comes in a sugar item. You right click and get a serious speed boost that is good for evading but not quick good at catching up to players running from you. Reason being it’s too fast and you will most likely go way too far ahead of them. Over time I’m sure you can get the timing down but it overall is a frustrating kit to use.
Elementalist ties for the most amount of abilities. To activate each ability left click your bow and pull the entire way back.
Flame bow~ shoots fire arrows
Earth bow ~ prevents victim from being able to jump
Wind bow ~ sends victim flying into the air taking fall damage on the way down
Tracker bow ~ you will never miss a shot as your arrows curve to the closest target, but it deals 0 damage
Weak armour with an average sword. I would never recommend close combat.
Unless your name is @igotchu you will never take kit Vacuum into a 1v1 with the intentions of fighting. You’re given a pressure plate which regulate your abilities which include: left click which will push players away from where you place a pressure plate (must be on ground). And right click which pulls everyone in your radius into a one block space. I would only recommend using this kit during a KOTH event (blow players off, gain more time for yourself). And for mosh pits in front of spawn, you can hit from a distance and maybe collect a few kills.
Dragon used to be one the worst kits by far, just like Vampire Munchy has done a good job at balancing. It’s abilities includes left click which shoots a ghast ball and deals area damage. And the right click which disperses a flame lighting players on fire. You obtain perm fire res (which isn’t as helpful as you might think). Most lava pits aren’t deep making for an easy crit out from above, that is if you’re trying to escape by jumping into lava. The fire ability is useful for catching up to runners, but keep in mind players take less kb when on fire.
Snowgolem is a usable kit, it’s abilites are just lacking in a lot of ways. You’re given a shovel which you can use 2 abilities: right click a player freezes them for a minimal amount of seconds (they can still hit you). And left click to shoot a snowball and hit a player, if you manage to hit someone (very easy to miss and then wait for cool down again) you’re given speed for a few seconds. Average iron armour with an average diamond sword, strength instead of sharpness.
Switcher is a fluke kit. Switcher kit gives you 16 snowballs in which you use to throw at a player. In connecting a shot you switch places with that person. The only time this ability is used to get kills is if you’re willing to jump into a lava pit while mid air hit someone to swap places, or the same thing with a cliff. Half the time you will find yourself just suiciding and ruining your kdr. Average iron armour, sword with strength.
With Archer kit you obtain speed 1 with chain mail chest plate and leggings, leather boots and helm. Archer kit is given a weak stone sword so avoid all close combat. The bow itself will most likely never get you kills unless you find someone new to minecraft who can’t soup.
Groundhog to say the least is an unnecessary kit that is beyond outdated thanks to the arrival kit Falcon, which is beyond more popular. Even before Falcon it seemed dead. You are given a slime ball in which you can use to teleport up or below the position in which you’re at. If there isn’t anything above or below you it will not work. Although it may seem good for evading, compared to the other kits it’s not a competition.
Below average armor: gold chest plate
Below average sword: stone
Dwarf is more of a meme kit. It’s ability includes crouching for a set time, once you let go of crouch the players around you will be sent up into the air and go flying. It doesn’t offer any potential to get kills. Even if you max out the crouch ability it will leave your opponents hitting the ground with 2 hearts.
Summoner gives you the ability with a diamond hoe to spawn in creepers after shooting it in snowball form. I can also say I’ve never gotten a kill or have been killed by this kit. It needs reworked so that the creepers do more damage and actually chase people instead of standing still like it’s AFK. If you completely neglect the abilities it’s not a bad pvp kit seeing it’s got iron armour and strength.
Now these last two kits I have a special name for : SCAMS
But seriously Munchy these need taken out or reworked people shouldn’t still be paying for these kits.
There isn’t much to be said about Echo:
Below average armour: consists of gold and iron armour
Average sword: sharp 1 diamond
Ability includes going back 15 seconds from where you last where. I found that most of the time while fighting this isn’t useful because fights tend to last longer then 15 seconds so you will tp like 1 block behind yourself.
Zeus, oh where do I even start. Ok so Zeus has two abilities. Left click which places down a wool block that is a center point for lightning to strike. Which may I add DOESNT WORK currently and for a long time this ability has been broken, it does a total of 0 damage. Right click ability shoots a mass lightning strike, and does a total of 2.0 hearts of damage. That is if you make contact with it because the countdown takes a while and it’s easy to dodge.
Armor: Mostly gold, not very good
Sword: Average diamond sharp 1
Thanks to anyone who made it this far (doubt anyone did ), I just wanted to make a post helping newer players understand what each kit does and whether or not it’s worth their money. Also there are probably some mistakes toward the end this took me hours and I’m tired.
Lastly special thanks to ImKossed
