Welcome back to another episode of But What Does It Mean? Ever wonder: what the heck does that name mean? Well, you’re in the right place! Here, we look at the IGNs of the amazing members of the MunchyMC Community!
He’s a Nitro booster. He has a gamemode-specific buyable rank in each gamemode. He co-hosts (semi)-weekly WoolWars events. He just applied for JMod (gl, by the way). That’s right, it’s the one and only @cwora! Today, we will be analyzing his name. But today, we aren’t doing a normal BWDIM episode. Today, it’s a BWDIM history lesson! That’s right. Anyway, let’s dive right in.
We will, of course, split the name into three parts (and remove some of the uppercase letters): He-lix-Ed.
First part: He. I, you, he, she, they, we. Conjugation is fun, man!
Second part: lix (also stylized liks): obviously a reference to Skeppy’s YouTube videos, where he tells you (repeatedly, might I add) to “lik” the video (a typo for like). Anyway, we can safely say that this means “likes”.
Third part: Ed. Quite simple really. There are many Eds in the world, but none of them are quite as symbolic as Edvard Munch.
Put all of these pieces together, and we get “He likes Edvard Munch”. Now, I did promise a history lesson. And I deliver on my promises. To truly understand why Helix like Edvard Munch, we must first find out who the heck he is. So, here we go.
Edvard Munch was born in 1863 in Norway. He had quite an amazing childhood, with his mother dying from tuberculosis when he was 5, and one of his sisters dying also from tuberculosis at age 15, when he was 13. His other sister was diagnosed with schizophrenia, and his father suffered from depression. He was also diagnosed with neurasthenia, which is essentially what doctors in the late 19th century diagnosed you with if they knew something was wrong with you, but didn’t know what. He also suffered from alcoholism.
Because of these events, he decided that he wanted to rebel against society. He started painting in around 1890, and decided to move to Berlin, where his art first gained widespread recognition.
He also found that there were other people there with his mindset, and chilled there for a bit.
Fast forward a few decades, he’s painted a bunch of famous art, including The Scream, and is back in Norway. He dies in 1944. But, the real reason that Helix likes the man so much is something that has largely gone undocumented throughout history. This secret will now be revealed.
When he was in his twenties and enjoying his screw-everyone stage of life, he contributed to society in a way that no one could ever imagine. He founded the Minecraft server named MunchyMC. He then decided to start streaming on a platform that was little-known back then: YouTube. He didn’t have many subscribers back then, as access to Internet was limited, to say the least. It was only in the early 2010’s that he was brought back to life by a man named Skeppy, who desperately needed a friend. Ed then chose the IGN BadBoyHalo, as he was a bad boy back in the day, and restarted his streaming. The Minecraft server was left in shambles after he “died”, but it was brought back through BadBoyHalo and his streaming.
Well, now you know why the man like Ed so much. He literally founded the greatest Minecraft server of all time! This is, in short, what Helix was trying to teach us with his IGN.

Special comment for Rat and aetherim: I didn’t do aetherim because I’m only doing current IGNs, and QUEENRIM isn’t very interesting or complex, no offence.
Well, that seems to be the end of the fourth episode. If you happen to be the guest star, please comment below with the inspiration for your name. Also, comment with your suggestions of IGNs for me to examine. Until then, this is your host, Spectro, signing off. Goodnight!
