A Discussion About Munchy

DISCLAIMER: This post is long… and only meant for people who care to read and reply with actual feedback and ideas and opinions of their own.

It’s been a little bit since I made a post about my thoughts about Munchy. The last post was Ideas for a PvP Game Mode, and to nobody’s surprise I will be talking about the same topics as well as a few more. I love MunchyMC a lot and so I like to talk about and discuss these things with people, so making posts like these are great ways to just communicate with the entire MunchyMC community. Plus, hey maybe something will come out of these types of posts :)

MUNCHY’s PLAYER COUNT

Munchy has honestly been doing pretty well lately. Theres been plenty of times where the server can’t really keep a consistent player count but as of the last few months, it’s been getting a better player count than it has for a while. If I had to guess why, I’d say it’s probably because of the Prison reset + its new map which came out early March, the events Survival has been getting, Game Maker being a newer and more active community, and the recent Skill Duels mode being added and advertised by Dream. There have even been people playing both KitPvP and Wool Wars every now and then, which is something that used to never happen.

WHY IT MATTERS

If you have been a MunchyMC player for a while, you know very well how big Survival and Prison updates/resets are when it comes to bringing players online. Usually, the resets and big updates can cause the games to get over 100 players at once for a decent amount of time. The reason for this is that there is something new for those players. After a while once people make it far in both of those games, they tend to get kind of bored and sadly stop playing until something new and exciting happens. This is obvious because that’s what tends to happen with most games regardless of Minecraft or not. If nothing new comes along, people tend to get bored of the game or tired of doing the same thing over and over. Survival and Prison are both games that also struggle with keeping certain players busy because once they’ve grinded enough, they make it to the top and are rich and have pretty much hit all of their goals. Some of those players feel satisfied and leave, while others stay and continue playing and creating smaller goals.

EVENTS

Now the reason I bring up Prison and Survival aren’t just because they tend to be the most popular games on Munchy, but also because they are the games that get the most attention by their community and their staff team. Always hosting events like for Survival, the map art competitions like the Survival Summer Map Art Competition or the recent Hidden Bazaar. And for Prison, the Prison Break Tournament. Game Maker has also had a few events too, but the game is much newer so for now it’s getting the attention you would assume it would get.

Events are very important to keep players interested in their game mode. Having things hosted for certain seasons, or creating an event with a specific theme, or hosting some sort of tournament for different prizes are all ways to switch things up and get both old and new players excited to log on and take part in. Then while it’s all happening, the player count starts to rise for a while.

Another important thing that I feel like us as a community have talked about a lot is MunchyMC’s advertisement. Advertisement can mean both Youtubers and Streamers making content on the server to bring new players on while showing off the games, or it can mean literal ads being made for the server.

I think personally that both are needed very badly. And as a part of the Media team, I try to do my part as best as I can when I feel I can. Unfortunately though, I myself am not a very big creator who can bring a whole new player base to the server. This is true for the majority of content creators who are a part of the Media team. Now obviously it’s up to bigger content creators to decide if they want to make content on Munchy, but no one is obligated to do so.

Actual ads for the server posted on both Youtube and Tiktok are something that we could create and could end up bringing many new players, and something I and I’m sure many others would be happy to take part in, but that’s a conversation for us as a Media team and not for the forums. (unless of course anyone has ideas on how to maybe do so)

THE MAIN TOPIC: UPDATES

Updates. Something that the server doesn’t tend to get very often. This may be due to lack of ideas, lack of developers, lack of support, or simply a lack of care. It could be any of these things, or maybe all of these things. But I can definitely say this for sure, us as a community have been very honest and vocal about what we want to see in updates.

Obviously when I talk about updates, I am mostly referring to KitPvP and WoolWars… This is nothing new, but I feel the need to talk about constantly. I’ve already explained the importance of the Prison and Survival updates and how well they do. They get so many players who stay for a while, and then when things start to slow down, they host events or bring smaller updates to keep people playing. This was the case back then when KitPvP and WoolWars were still popular, but it definitely isn’t the case now. The reasons for this are most likely due to the games being based around 1.8 which is such an outdated version of Minecraft. Most servers that still use 1.8 are either dead, or are moving on and making changes for the modern versions of that game.

How could Munchy update these games then? If they are games based around 1.8, what could they really do? Well, update the games to the newest versions. Both games would change a lot but in ways where they would benefit quite a bit.

A lot of the ideas i am going to talk about are things I already have brought up in the post I mentioned at the very beginning of this post

Lets start with KitPvP

KitPvP would be the game that would change the most I feel. Soup wouldn’t work. I hate to say it, but it just wouldn’t. Soup is a type of healing where you right click the soup, and it heals you about 3.5 hearts. Sounds very simple but would be problematic in 1.9+ combat. I could go in depth on why this is the case, but even if I did, it wouldn’t matter too much in the end since like 99% of people who would play a modern KitPvP would already be 1.9+ players who haven’t experienced Soup. I think the best option would to use golden apples as a base healing option. Golden apples are usually the main healing option used in really any 1.9+ pvp game. The pvp is already much slower pace, so golden apples give you a much easier time healing. Making a change like this would mean the whole concept of Munchy’s KitPvP is changed, but there aren’t really too many options.

  • More reasons on why golden apples would be better
Summary

I think making a change from soup to golden apples or really any other form of healing would be the best thing to do for the game. This would give the developers a ton of room to work on other things for KitPvP. These things would be things like new mechanics or new kits. Soup would hold the devs back on trying to come up with more creative ideas since everything before was literally revolved around soup. Making this change would also even out the playing field a little so there isn’t so much of a skill gap between pvpers. Before, if you simply knew how to soup even a tiny bit better than another person, you were almost always going to win the fight, but with golden apples, players may have a much easier time surviving and fighting back while also making good use of their kits’ abilities.

  • Kit abilities
Summary

A modern KitPvP would allow for so many new abilities. This is where the server’s creativity would truly show. Abilities that already exist could be updated to better fit the pvp type, and new abilities that could never happen on 1.8 could be created.

My own Kit/Ability example

An example of a new Kit/Ability I have come up with recently is a “Chef” Kit/Ability.
(I have been making my own kitpvp on Game Maker and have been very proud of this kit idea :) )

The way the Chef ability works, is every time you use the ability, you are given a random food item. Most food items give you a buff of some sort, but some also give you a debuff. Basically a completely RNG kit.

Positive item examples:

  • Soup - heals you 3.5 hearts (sounds familiar)
  • Protein Egg - gives you strength for a couple seconds
  • Hot Pepper - shoots a burst of fire from your mouth
  • Sugar Cookie - gives you high speed and high jump boost for a couple seconds, and after they run out you get blindness and slowness for a quick second. (like a sugar rush and then a sugar crash)

Negative item examples:

  • Rotten potato and expired meat - gives nausea for a couple seconds
  • Pufferfish - gives poison for a couple seconds

  • New kits entirely
Summary

Not only new abilites could be created, but new kits that use mechanics and items that didnt exist back in 1.8. Things like tridents and maces and crossbows are weapons that can be used in brand new kits. There also also things like wind charges and elytras that could be used to create new kits. And old kits that have already existed could also be updated to use these new items and mechanics!

For example: Falcon kit. Falcon in Munchy’s current KitPvP just uses the creative mode flying as its main gimmick. With the addition of elytras, Falcon could be updated to use those instead of just being able to fly around freely.

  • Building opportunities
Summary

With the newer versions comes MANY new blocks. Many old maps could be updated, and many new maps can be created. Theres lots of new ways to use redstone and mechanics for secrets, and new ways to make cool scenery for exploring.

  • A new arena
Summary

KitPvP currently has an arena meant for both 1v1’s and party fights. Instead of actually using Kits to fight, instead there are options to choose from different practice modes like Sumo or NoDebuff. This kind of thing could definitely stay, but with the newest versions there are so many more practice modes to choose from. These new modes could be added for people who want to 1v1 in these modes without any unfair advantages.

Another thing that some players have talked about wanting for Munchy’s current arena is an option to do a normal 1v1 but with the option to choose one of the Kits used in casual. This could be added into the arena as either a new mode or could be used as the default 1v1 mode.

I think keeping and updating the arena would be super important for Munchy since the large majority of pvp games on other servers are literally just practice. So Munchy would have both a practice, and a KitPvP all in 1 server.

  • New events
Summary

A major part of KitPvP is its automatic events. Some of the current events are Sumo, Spleef, TNT Run, and Find the button, but with the newer versions many other events could be added to KitPvP. A lot of good ideas are actually a part of Munchy right now, and they are all in Skill Duels.

Skill Duels is a weird game in my opinion because it’s just a bunch of random quick games that you can log on and play while also having a leaderboard for the top players. And compared to more fleshed-out games like Survival, Prison, and GameMaker, Skill Duels just feels kind of underwhelming. This could be because it was just a little thing Dream advertised so his fanbase could do all the things he did in his video and the game isn’t meant to stay for much longer, but if this game is staying and going to be updated more, it just feels very odd. Skill Duels’ games would be much better as events that can be hosted on KitPvP and easily could be added. The games would work the exact same way as they do now.

In conclusion

I think updating KitPvP would be the best thing to do for creating a new pvp game for Munchy. All the base ideas and concepts are already right there, and KitPvP is not that common of a game for servers today. The other servers that do have a modern KitPvP are so extremely boring, however. Usually, you see the same boring kits on those servers like: Fighter, Tank, Swordsman, Archer, and other super basic diamond armor diamond axe or sword kits, and it’s just so lame compared to how Munchy makes kits. Munchy could easily take advantage of most servers being as boring as they are and bring their creativity to the 1.9+ pvp community, while still balancing their kits in a way that can keep KitPvP both competetive and fun at the same time. Then there is also the fact that Munchy already has a practive mode with the Arena, so the 1.9+ pvp community can still come on and just do 1v1s in their favorite pvp mode.

The sad part about this is that we would most likely be saying goodbye to the 1.8 KitPvP… but let’s be honest, its dead. Its dead to the point where it most likely couldn’t come back unless by some miracle. 1.8 is so outdated and foreign to most Minecraft players today, that it just won’t have a great chance of being popular again. Theres also the fact that pretty much everyone who used to be in the community is gone. Not just the Munchy KitPvP community, but also the Soup community as well. Other servers have tried reviving Soup KitPvP and failed many times. It’s unfortunate especially for Munchy considering the servers history. Munchy has always been known for its soup KitPvP from the beginning and has always been why the server is where it is today. I think even though we would most likely be saying goodbye to 1.8 and soup pvp, still keeping the KitPvP mode and updating it would continue the server’s legacy and preserve the server’s history by keeping classic maps and kits.

Now onto Wool Wars

Wool Wars honestly wouldn’t change nearly as much as KitPvP. The pvp would be different, but the concept and gameplay wouldn’t have to change much at all. Building up, looting chests, and avoiding the rising sandstone floor would still be the basics of the game. The main things that would change would be the maps, the kits, and the items you could get from looting chests. There are plenty of similarities when talking about things that would change in Wool Wars and KitPvP, but once again, the game itself would ultimately be the same, just not 1.8.

  • Kits and Abilities
Summary

Most kits in Wool Wars wouldn’t have to change too much, but there are more opportunities to add new kits with the new items and mechanics added to the game. Potion effects and all could be used to make new kits that don’t already exist now. Some kits could even be updated using the new things added to Minecraft.

For example: Glider kit. Glider kit allows you to glide through the air while holding nothing in your hand and shifting. When landing, you still take the amount of fall damage as you would if you weren’t gliding. Glider kit could be updated by using the slow falling potion effect that didn’t exist back in 1.8. The kit wouldn’t be too different but would better fit to the modern versions of the game.

  • New items
Summary

Lots of items that exist now but didn’t exist in 1.8 could be added to the chests you loot. You could find shields, or crossbows, or new potions. You could maybe find wind charges or even spawn eggs for newer mobs or just anything that could help you win the game. With all of the new items added to Minecraft, looting chests can be much more worth it especially later in the rounds. Maybe you haven’t found a ranged weapon and open up a chest to find a trident, then use the trident to knock a player off onto the sandstone and win!

Another example of something that could be added in chests are boats. maybe when you’re in a boat, you are safe from the rising sandstone. That would be a safety option for if you fall and need to survive, or if you end up getting stuck down at the bottom of the map and don’t have an easy way up. The boat can still be broken or buried by the next layer of sandstone, but would be something new that the game didn’t have before.

  • Building opportunities
Summary

With all of the new blocks added to the game, Wool Wars could see many new maps or even updated older maps as well. There could also maybe be changes made to the game itself. Like for example, the sandstone that rises over time could maybe be changed to something like magma blocks, or some other block that when you touch it you die. Maybe depending on the map being made, the chests you loot could also be replaced by barrels or shulker boxes. There are lots of different ways to utilize all the blocks that didnt exist back in 1.8.

In conclusion

Updating Wool Wars would be huge for the community. It could revive the game and get players excited to get back on and try all of the new things. It is also the best option if you plan on changing anything in the game. The game would feel very fresh and almost like a brand-new game added to Munchy while still being the Wool Wars we all know and love. The pvp may no longer be 1.8, but the majority of Minecraft players already use the modern versions of the game and may not have much experience in 1.8 pvp.

Wool Wars always feels like MunchyMC’s original game that no other server has. It’s very unique and is its own concept you don’t see anywhere else. It’s a shame that it has lost its community and doesn’t get updated because it is still such a very fun game that so many people love and want to still play. I feel updating Wool Wars would be the best thing to do if there is ever a plan to revive the server. It would undoubtedly bring back so many older players, while also bringing in so many new players, and will for sure be so many people’s favorite game just like it was while it was popular.

The Hub and global ranks

Now you may wonder why I’m bringing up the Hub, and the reason is because just like Wool Wars and KitPvP, it is a major part of the server that hasn’t really gotten any updates in a while. Is an update to the Hub really important? Not really, but it has been the same for years and years and it could be pretty cool to get some sort of update. Updating the Hub could also include other things like the lottery. The lottery is a cool idea and should definitely stay but could maybe be more expanded upon. Personally, I don’t know exactly what gives you spins, but maybe different tasks or quests in each game could give you spins for the lottery. Maybe more cosmetic items and gadgets could be added. They could be things you unlock in the lottery, or over time doing different quests on different part of the server. This gives players more of a reason to spend time on the server, and not just in 1 game but all of them.

Global ranks are another thing that should be mentioned. As of now, global ranks are really only useful in KitPvP and Wool Wars. But since those 2 games are dead, what other reason is there to purchase the global ranks? Most games on Munchy have their own ranks which means having Super or Elite or Legend doesn’t really do anything for you. Sure, you may get a few benefits in Survival or color chat in most parts of Munchy, but without KitPvP and Wool Wars, those ranks are pretty much useless. Updating both KitPvP and Wool Wars would immediately fix that problem. Having a rank would actually be worth it if you plan on using certain kits or want to host automatic events.

As a part of the Media team, one of the newer features given to us is our /mediastream command. With this command there is a way for us to earn global ranks to then give out to our viewers or other players online. Sadly, the only games to really stream are the games that do not use the global ranks. It becomes a bit of an issue when we get asked “What does my rank do?” and we have to basically tell them the ranks don’t really do anything.

STAFF AND MEDIA

The next topic I think should be talked about are the staff teams and the media team.

First off, the staff teams. KitPvP and Wool Wars both still have people who are considered staff on the server. There are also people a part of the event team on the server, and people who are a part of the bug and idea team. These people have absolutely no reason to be online when their games they are meant to staff on, test out, or host events on have 0 players. Updating these games would give them an opportunity to come back and continue helping out the server. Otherwise, are they just forever going to stay staff that have nothing to do?

And second off, us on the Media team really struggle with making content and streaming on the server. Some people may enjoy the games that exist like Prison or Survival, but these games aren’t the easiest to make content on. The majority of us who are or were on the media team were active players and streamers on both KitPvP and Wool Wars. Now that these games are dead, it’s extremely hard for us to make any kind of content. Both KitPvP and Wool Wars were absolutely perfect games for us to stream on. As smaller content creators, it was a great way for us to have fun with our viewers or to have fun with the regular players of the server while still advertising and bringing new players online. It was also a great way for us to collaborate and make friends with each other as a team. This is something we haven’t had in a long time and it’s just very unfortunate.

FINAL CONCLUSION

MunchyMC is such an amazing server and always has been. It’s a server that always has so much potential and should always be given attention. Even though there are times where it looks rough, theres always a chance for the server to grow and improve on things. The community is amazing, the games are unique, and I believe there is a very bright future for the server.

Even though the majority of this post had to do with updating KitPvP and Wool Wars, i think the other games on the server should always continue to be updated as well. Prison and Survival both do great and will continue to do great, and Game Maker is easily one of the most creative games Munchy has ever seen. Even less important parts of the server like Purgatory and Event are great. Purgatory is a punishment for banned players, but also a way for a second chance to come back and play, and Event is a fun place to play in events hosted by either BadBoyHalo, or other streamers and youtubers. These are things most other servers do not have, and the servers that do have these types of games, don’t have the creativity and charm that Munchy has.

:)

Once again, I just enjoy talking about the server and sharing my thoughts on things, and so that’s exactly what this post is. Obviously, I hope that I am able to help out as much as I can when making these types of posts, but I also hope it gets others’ minds thinking about the server too. I believe that as a community we should share our thoughts and ideas and even our worries and criticisms about the server, and that the staff team should think about and consider the things we say as well in return.

I know there will probably be plenty of things that you guys do and don’t agree with, but I encourage you all to share your opinions and thoughts in the replies or even in your own forums posts.

(i am not a great writer so im sure there will be plenty of mistakes or grammatical errors so be sure to point those out too xD)

Regarding what you said on KitPvP:

I agree soup wouldn’t work well in 1.9+ combat, however I don’t think golden apples are the best idea either. You have to kind of run away to use them and they interrupt the combat much more than soup does. I would honestly suggest just not having healing and having high protection. An idea I did have for KitPvP (not necessarily for new version but just in general) is to have joining send you to a lobby with NPCs to join different warps with different styles of PvP. In an update to the new version, you could have a warp with ability kits and one with more vanilla style kits, and use this as a way to see which is more popular. I believe there was a soup warp like this in the past with non-ability kits, but it died out. This is part of the reason for the lobby, so people who join for the first time know it exists, but also it could just be seen which does better and thus which stays around. I’d even suggest trying to keep a soup warp with pseudo-1.8 PvP (like prison but better) and seeing what updates can be done there. Warps could also have separate map votes (but with the same map pool), to allow more variety.

As for WoolWars:

I think there’s definitely potential for new items and kit abilities, but also I feel like 1.9+ PvP wouldn’t fit well there (subjective but I don’t think it works well for gamemodes based on knocking other people off things). Pseudo-1.8 would be interesting if done well. Even if it’s not super new player friendly, neither are the kit abilities or sandstone so I don’t think it’d be much concern.

One final thing:

When skill duels released and was advertised by Dream, I noticed KitPvP/WoolWars got the most playercount boost of any other gamemode. In fact, I didn’t notice any difference in playercount for any gamemodes besides those two. As far as I’m aware, only skill duels was advertised so the fact that most (if not all) players spilling elsewhere onto the server went to those two gamemodes shows they spark the most interest from new players (especially those who are presumably fans of the owner). I would say that shows they deserve some attention.

Can confirm! Kit reached over 80+ players if not mistaken.

Some new players did join survival but quit almost instantly while they were staying longer on kit

Very excellent suggestions, I think the problem is with the servers management. Time and Time again we’ve shown that we have ideas for the direction of woolwars or Kitpvp, management doesn’t give a damn and just ignores us entirely unless it costs them money.

These updates cost time and people don’t wanna do them for stuff they think won’t be enjoyed, and in general management doesn’t listen to player feedback very well, advertise at all, or even run their game modes fairly.

This also doesn’t target kit staff specifically, we’ve obviously had some garbage but there were gems. ( Oracol Mddey cahrypt Simfonija &Twinkiewinkie and ESPECIALLY @Dynisty (prolly more just hard to remember)

This itself is enough reason to do something with Kit and Wool Wars. All of those players were non Munchy players, and could have easily gone to the active Prison, Survival, or Game Maker but instead went to Kit and Wool Wars who didn’t have anyone playing beforehand. Those two games get the attention of new players more than the 3 current most popular games.

It was like a dream seeing that many people online after so long LOL.

This is always an interesting topic to revisit every once in a while, but I feel like we are rehashing the same talking points again and going in circles here without actually putting forth anything significant. No one is going to argue against advertising, updates, and events, and everyone is well aware these are needed. Now, you do a good job here of laying out ideas for changes, suggesting kits among other things, but I don’t think these changes are compelling enough on their own to meet the ultimate end of reviving the KitPvP gamemode.

Keep in mind, I say this because this has been proven as tried and true already back in 2023; new kits, new maps, other little things, and it was actually well executed, with play testing sessions to ensure as smooth a transition of versions as possible, and incorporating community feedback to a high degree to meet our expectations. Yet, in 2025, we are in the same situation as we were then, so from the admin team’s perspective, I would understand their apprehension in attempting this again. What we should be looking for is a change to KitPvP at its core, rather than supplemental things that revolve around it, like kits and maps. I believe that this is the type of change that would actually stand a chance of revitalizing KitPvP; it very well may require reshaping it drastically: a KitPvP 4.0, if you will, or whatever version it’s supposed to be nowadays.

When addressing the revival of KitPvP, we not only have to consider the update itself but also the problems concerning the core of Munchy. If I had to guess, looking from the outside in, there is a stagnation of inspiration, a lack of initiative to take action, and a weak structure in delegating responsibilities to people to actually roll out changes and make things happen. And probably a lack of resources. This is pure conjecture, as I can’t possibly know the atmosphere internally, but that is certainly the impression many of us are given.

How I would revive KitPvP

Hypothetically, if I were the manager of KitPvP and BadBoyHalo tasked me with simply “reviving KitPvP” and assuming I had no constraints to consider, here is the rough plan I would formulate to restore KitPvP to an active community.

Progression System

Hopping around the server today, one shortcoming of KitPvP I identified was the lack of a progression system. That is, something to work towards, concrete goals to be met. Progression is something that is clearly evident in all other main Munchy game modes. Wool Wars also had the same issue at a time, but it was addressed with a leveling system (to what success, I don’t know). In KitPvP, we fight players endlessly, but to what end? What do we have to show for it?

This is a core gameplay aspect that should be improved upon. Whereas in Survival, you build your skills, and in Prison, you collect rare items, in KitPvP, you haven’t actually gotten anywhere, even after thousands of kills. This could be a part of the problem of why players quit. When I play RuneScape (I’m down bad), there are always skills to level up, bosses to kill, and items to collect, which keeps me hooked as I always know there’s some kind of accomplishment that I can achieve. To provide a more relevant example, Hypixel Pit would not be as popular as it is if players used the same base kits: no perks, rare items, or anything. The path that the Pit sets forth for players keeps many invested, especially as they find the game gets more fun as they progress their character. KitPvP just doesn’t have that progression path, that hook, to sustain engagement.

With that said, here is the main concept I was thinking of about how we can introduce progression to KitPvP and create a source of content:

Prestige System: After x amount of kills with a certain kit, you unlock a chat prefix that denotes your milestone. After reaching a certain milestone, you can prestige your kit, which grants a permanent half-heart boost, achievable up to five times.

This is what I mean by a core gameplay change. The suggestions I mention here are obviously up for debate, but these are the types of significant, impactful changes that I think are necessary for rebuilding the player base. Of course, there are many more ways we can implement a sense of progression into the game if such an idea above wasn’t to come to fruition. But the overall goal here is to positively reshape the KitPvP experience in a way that is truly revolutionary.

Reunion/Anniversary Event

How many of you know that Munchy turns 10 years old in about a week?

I envision this as an excellent opportunity to create a spark to generate interest in KitPvP again. The reason why we have these discussions in the first place is because we are passionate about the game which we have fostered many memories on. And what better way to refresh KitPvP than to do so alongside those who we share these memories with? We ought to remember that while welcoming new players is integral (Munchy wouldn’t stand today without them), there still exists an avenue of approach where we capitalize on the endless amount of people who have come and gone, and present the invitation to return. That’s the advantage of having such an old and rather iconic game.

Anyways, here are some points about how I would set a “reunion” event into motion:

  • Utilize the mailing list to send out an email to users inviting them to join us for a KitPvP reunion. This ensures we reach those who no longer play currently and make sure they are aware, in addition to using the typical methods to advertise the event.

  • It’s not anything special, it’s really just a get-together. It’s a big event with relatively little effort.

  • BadBoyHalo hosting the usual games like the good old days. Red Rover, Four Corners, Water Drop, all that.

  • Of course, all players are invited.

I guess that’s all I really have to say about it. Ideally, by the end of it, players will remember how fun and community-driven this place used to be and be motivated to continue KitPvP’s success.

Returning Events to KitPvP

Continuing from the previous section, it has long been a grievance of mine that there is now a dedicated server for events, rather than it being centralized within KitPvP. To me, the spontaneous and hand-crafted events added to the fun factor and contributed largely to KitPvP’s identity. While we played KitPvP for KitPvP, we also looked forward to the “epic” style events where everyone is running around wild trying to be the last one standing. By now hosting events elsewhere, KitPvP was left without a major component of what makes it so special. And no, the automated event system in no way replaces what events were before.

Hosting events on KitPvP again would undoubtedly benefit its success by stoking player counts while there is an active event going on. At the very least, if there were an effort to host events on a consistent schedule, say every weekend, players would know to hop on during that time, and KitPvP could again be active, albeit on a periodic basis.

Implementing the Change

So those are the main ideas I came up with today that I would implement to bring KitPvP back to life. It’s by no means conclusive. Now this is a whole lot of talking but not any doing, so I’ll also describe how I, as the manager, would coordinate the effort to make this plan a reality by delegating responsibility to members of the team:

  • Newsletter Writer:
    • Write the content for the email to be sent out to players for the Reunion event
    • Participate in the event to gather content to be compiled in the newsletter
    • Write the post for the upcoming KitPvP update and event for Forums, Discord, etc.
  • Community Manager:
    • Collect community feedback by prompting responses and providing thoughtful feedback to existing suggestions
    • Act as the liaison between the community and the developers
    • Provide progress updates to the community if necessary
  • Developers:
    • Develop the KitPvP revamp by introducing progression system along other features

    • Ensure familiarity with event commands and procedures (we all know it’s been a long time)
    • Assist BadBoyHalo with the Reunion Event if necessary
    • Create a schedule to host events on a regular, predictable interval to keep community interested (if player counts are an issue)
  • Bug and Idea Team:

  • Me/Manager:
    • Identify positions to be filled, everyone responsible
    • Provide the roadmap to completion:
      • It would look SOMETHING like this:
      • NOW: Identify everyone, compile email list, draft email content and posts, ensure functionality of events and correct if necessary, begin initial development stage
      • Jun 15: Send emails and post all, prepare for potential boost in players from the initial posting, begin fielding suggestions to add for development
      • Jun 23-27: Event hosts making sure they know what they’re doing
      • Jun 27: Follow-up email to remind everyone of event
      • Jun 28: Reunion Event. BadBoyHalo miraculously shows up on time
      • Jul 5-12: Update development completion and rollout
      • After: Events continue, players are playing, life is good

It might be silly to explain my idea in this way, but I feel like by doing it like this I sufficiently demonstrate the rationality of setting my plan into motion by also considering the perspective of the other party, the admin team. I’ve grown tired of imagining updates and hoping that someone somewhere grants my wish. All this time writing and thinking but will the relevant people actually meet with me on this and not let my post as well as the thoughts of others go to waste unanswered? From my position I’ve done everything I can to make this possible and exemplify its feasibility, so I would certainly be interested in knowing what the team thinks about the potential of such an idea, and if not, what the reasons are, and what their own plan is instead.

No guarantee any of this will actually work to revive KitPvP of course, but I believe it’s still worth the attempt to make something special happen, even if it just lasts for a short while.

Hi everyone general community drex here, please condense your messages! I’m sure they’re full of great points but no one wants to read a civic literacy essay worth of text on suggestions for a dying Minecraft server. I know I’m one to talk, I’m just saying cause I wanna read all of this :]

Thank you

this type of post has been made 10000000000 times, its just the result of the owner giving up on his server. 0 leadership in terms of keeping his gamemodes up to date. Munchy has been given up on since 2022 maybe a bit later or sooner.

why is it always the owner fault?

Because he’s the one in charge of the server and realistically if things need to be worked on, he should be directing it so things actually go forward.

It’s not about being kind of mean, but like, if @BadBoyHalo truly wanted to work on Kit or Woolwars, he’d manage the team to do so.

ok i get your point but then what’s the point of putting people in charge of things if he has to do everything

It’s just a matter of delegation. Badboyhalo is the leader of this server and he has to take the initiative to make things happen. Sure, people inside his team can step forward and bring ideas, but at the end of the day he does have the final say on things getting executed.

Badboyhalo himself does not have to do everything that’s why there is an admin/dev team! The admins and developers do a lot of footwork that Bad does not.

Of course I’m not downplaying what Badboyhalo does because he has also made a lot of progress towards the server, but the admin/dev team also do a lot.

ok i see what you mean but question if the manager of kitpvp and woolwars wanted to bring back the gamemode could they?

I don’t want to get too involved in this post, but I did just want to say one thing. I think it’s worth noting that gamemodes like KitPvP and Woolwars aren’t really big anymore not just on Munchy. They’re part of an older era of Minecraft, and I’m not sure why they keep being brought up as the go to examples.

This is indeed true. Just wanted to point the fact that @BadBoyHalo does have a bit of a responsibility when it comes to being involved on Kit/Woolwars.

Great question, I would love to see someone actually try to bring back these gamemodes, but I do agree with what @anon21742243 said. 1.8 PVP is just not as popular as it used to be and I don’t think it would draw the playercount (very important to servers) it used to. Revival is possible, but some major changes would need to be made.

Player count is a very important factor when it comes to servers making decisions. If it’s not going to draw the player count they need to work towards, then putting the working hours towards those gamemodes wouldn’t make sense.

Like @TheFireGamer210 also said, those gamemodes are part of an older era of Minecraft, and from the trends of time things have died off and aren’t popular enough to draw playercount.
