Hey everyone! Welcome back to another month of GameMaker news!
I. CTF Tournament
Over the month of July, our very own Ironnose with the help of staff has been hosting a CTF tournament! The tournament isn’t completely finished yet, but as the majority of it took place over the month of July, I believe it deserves a spot here even just for a quick summary. Right now, as it stands, the semifinals matches are underway, and the finals matches will be soon! Between first and third place is a 255$ prize pool. We’ll soon get to know who gets to take home which prize!
A big thanks to everyone that participated in the tournament who got eliminated in past rounds, it’s thanks to this awesome community that this event was possible!
II. Murder Mansion
Everyone’s heard of this map by now, haven’t they? The game that took the community by storm: Murder Mansion!
All of these wonderful community members came together to build and code this popular map. I’d say it’s a big hit!
So what is Murder Mansion, anyway? The goal is to find out who the murders are before they kill off all of the innocent mansion tenants. Every day there are tasks to be done around the mansion that can be done by anyone, even the killers. Rarely, a key shard can be found. Key shards can be used by the killers to kill, but they can also poison one player per day. It’s up to the innocent players to figure out and vote out the killers before it’s too late!
As it stands, Murder Mansion is played on a regular basis by the community- maybe not every day, but if you’re around on Gamemaker anytime soon, you might be able to join in on one of the rounds! Will you be able to survive as an innocent player, or will you be the mansion’s next killer?
III. Featured Map
For the month of July, our featured map is… Don’t Shift!
This map was made by community regular GodKoala- it’s a parkour map with a sinister twist- You’re not allowed to shift at all on this map. Shifting will send you right back to the beginning of each section. No securely lining up your jumps, no saving yourself after a risky leap. Just relying on your skill and reaction times to get yourself through this parkour map!

II. Survival Art Competition
Speaking of competitions, This month also saw the announcement of the Survival Art Competition a competition where the challenge is to make beautiful pixel art in the theme of Whimsical Nature. The winners’ entries will even become an actual painting you can buy on the server. You have until the 18th of August 11pm EST to submit an entry, so make sure to enter!
III. Weekend buffs
What also was added this month were the so-called Weekend Buffs, every weekend a random buff will be activated such as Skill XP Boosts, Bazaar XP Boosts, Increased Gold Ore Drops and much more. Make sure to also check out the guide:
IV. Other Updates
Ross has added so much cool and useful stuff this month that i struggled to pick what to put in the newsletter, so here are some of the other things that got added:
- A very beautiful new scoreboard design:
- Guide commands: /weekendbuffguide, /bazaarguide & /skillsguide. Useful commands to easily access guides.
- Tutorial missions: Upon joining the server you are now tasked with small missions to help you discover the server. Already an experienced munchy survivor? Get rid of the tutorial with /skipstartertasks.
- Chameleon Tongue: A new gadget added to the lottery that has a special ability and allows for less skill xp counting towards your xp limit.
- Nametags now show skill level and your status
- You can now trade lottery items at the salvage station
- Updated settings menu
