I was wondering if it is required to build large maps / towns to show in a build team application. I would say one of my weakest points is my planning ability. This makes it very hard to make a map with many areas.

I have been a Builder on a couple of minecraft servers and I am pretty sure that you would need that. After all as a builder you will be building things like prison maps, kit pvp maps, the lobbys. Building houses is also good but you will probably be mostly working on big projects that take a lot of time to make.
Towns aren’t really what Munchy is looking for. But being able to complete and plan an entire map is crucial if you want to join any build team. Get some inspiration for possible layouts in the maps we currently use and try something similar!
