BRO YES THIS IS ACTUALLY SO TRUE.

I honestly started remembering MunchyMC after I started seeing Skeppy’s vids on my youtube feed more and more, and the vids were about Invaded. I started watching them, and then I was reminded of MunchyMC again, and then I made this post.

MunchyMC can definetly do good if there is advertising. Thanks for pointing out the InvadedLands thing unc <3

I think it currently is. I logged on yesterday to start playing one of my old servers, only to see that it’s dead. It’s very sad for me, especially as someone who grew up watching both BBH and Skeppy. The server has so much potential, but you don’t see staff trying to revive it or being active within the community. I don’t know if it’s even worked on anymore. I want to continue to play the server actively, but it’s kind of hard when nobody joins Kit.

I like this post and (some of) its replies (though I am not as pessimistic as you guys). Thanks for having a proper conversation about this topic.

Let me throw in my two cents. Please note that this is my personal opinion and not necessarily the official stance of the server.

Kitpvp

Kitpvp is MunchyMC history, and without it the server likely would not exist today. I can say, probably moreso than anyone else on this thread, that I am very attached to it. I have had a lot of great memories on kitpvp since its glory days in 2013/2014. And I know this holds true for many of the senior (and former) staff.
But you guys have correctly pointed out that kitpvp is not the future of MunchyMC. Its entire premise is built on an 11 (!) year old version of the game and nostalgic people like us cannot keep it alive. Attempts have been made over the year to boost its popularity (some more successful than others) but I think we’ve reached a point where it’s not worth the effort. I personally do not believe it will become a core part of MunchyMC ever again.

Survival & Prison

While they are not currently at their peak popularity, I think both of these servers are in a fine spot. They both have a loyal core community and receive regular updates. Both of them “suffer” from the same phenomenon of activity cycles corresponding to big updates, but that is perfectly natural for such games.

WoolWars

WoolWars and its minigame character is quite different from anything else currently offered on MunchyMC. It’s fun and unique but there are only so many rounds of woolwars you can play before it gets repetitive. This number may be much larger for some, but it’s essentially true for everyone. As a result, woolwars needs a steady inflow of new players, moreso than any of our other servers.
I agree that advertisement is the correct solution here, and the past has shown that to be true. Woolwars has gone through several phases of activity and inactivity in the past. However, keep in mind that this is a costly strategy that may not necessarily be in the best interest of the server.

Wrap-Up

In recent years, Munchy has focused its (limited) resources on survival and prison, the servers with the strongest and most loyal communities, which also represent the gameplay style that most appeals to our general audience. Beyond that, I think the gamemaker release has proven that exploring new ideas may be a better use of resources than burning money and (largely volunteered) work hours on catering to nostalgia and a community that simply does not exist anymore.
