Have you applied for this role before? If so, please explain the steps you have taken to improve as an applicant since your last application:

No, I have never applied for this position/role before.

What do you think your reputation is like within the community?

I am not the most well-known player in the community, mainly because I keep to myself and focus mostly on improving my PvP. I can be extroverted when I want to be, and is something that I would definitely improve on if given the staff role. I believe I’m a nice person to play and chill with and that’s something that can’t be beat in the Soup PvP community.

Why are you interested in the role and what motivated you to apply?

I want to ensure that all players, old and new; have equal opportunities on the MunchyMC server and most importantly, have fun. I would like to help the community expand it’s player-base and I believe that it starts with respected, responsible staff. I have over 10 years of Minecraft experience, and in those years, have moderated for a few soup PvP servers. In this time, I gained knowledge, discipline, maturity, and most importantly responsibility on how to properly moderate in the Minecraft “industry.” I truly believe working with the fellow MunchyMC staff team could help me grow exponentially; in and out of Minecraft.

Being a staff member on any server requires a certain level of responsibility and maturity. These are two main attributes that I have worked on ever since I was young, mainly because I had no choice but to grow up quickly. I am able to take criticism and hardship which is something a lot of people lack. I work well under pressure, and accomplish tasks set forth upon me in and out of the game. I want to work with a group of people who all have the same goal in mind; create an atmosphere that all players feel welcomed to. To summarize, I want to become a staff member to provide an enjoyable experience for our players and make them feel welcomed to our server whilst providing the support to ensure that our server stays healthy, professional, and entertaining.

Something that separates me from a lot of Minecraft players is maturity. I have a great deal of experience playing this game and am older than most players. I feel like I am right for this position because I keep a certain level of respect and maturity on the server. I try to respect everyone’s opinions, and treat everyone the way that I would like to be treated. I am very open-minded and try to keep a friendly demeanor while playing because at the end of the day; everyone is there to have fun. With this being said, I will not hesitate to take the proper corrective action to a player that is doing something that is prohibited. As a staff member, you are there to assist and uphold the rules whilst maintaining a certain level of morale for the players. I think as a Moderator, players would feel comfortable coming to me with any issues that arise.

I am currently working as Human Resource Specialist in the United States Army; so helping and assisting people is something that I have grown to love. Whether it be bearing a hand to a new player who asks a question in chat, or an experienced player suggesting something new on the Forums; I want to maintain a fair and unbiased atmosphere while communicating with the players of the MunchyMC server. Filling the Moderator position would allow me to continue growing as a person, which is bigger than anything.

Out of 10 (with 10 being very knowledgeable), how would you rate your knowledge on moderating a community?

Personally, I would rate my knowledge on moderating a community a 9/10. I don’t believe there is such thing as a “perfect” moderator. I could contribute to the staff team by providing knowledge from previous staff positions I have held. In 2016, I was accepted as Junior Moderator on RetroKits. I dealt with blatant hacks, arguments/disagreements within the staff section and maintained professionality even at stressful times. Furthermore, in 2017, I created my own server with a few friends that averaged roughly 25-40 people within a 6-month span. Here, I learned the abilities to operate commands that I had no experience using, and providing an environment from scratch that best fit our player-types.

I will bring the keen ability to uphold the standards and rules of the server and try to grow the MunchyMC community. My maturity plays a great factor on how well I believe I could be as a Moderator. Being a staff member can be stressful; a lot of people tend to fold under levels of pressure but I enjoy it because it forces you to regulate a community by solving problems. My real life job’s main priority is to ensure all people are taken care of. As a Human Resource Specialist, we are to ensure everything runs well and to expectations. Working with the current staff members would be a great opportunity to learn, teach and grow and I think I would be a great asset to the team.

Out of 10 (with 10 being very knowledgeable), what would you rate your knowledge on Minecraft hacks and cheats, including finding and identifying cheaters?

Rating out of 10 on how knowledgeable I am on recognizing Minecraft hacks and cheats, I would say 8/10. Blatant hacks like reach, kill-aura, bhopping, etc. are simple cheats that I can physically see without thinking twice. Furthermore, hacks like auto-clicking are things that I would have to really look into before making the decision that the player is hacking. I believe that always ensuring that the player is legitimately breaking the rules is more important that accidently false-banning someone who isn’t cheating.

To summarize, in order to prevent falsely banning a player who I am not quite sure is cheating, I would ensure I always record for video evidence in the case that the player feels they were mistreated.

Please link us to any hacker reports you have made (recorded and/or reported) on MunchyMC:

Unfortunately, I have not recorded anyone in the midst of hacking. But I plan on doing so from now on as stated above.

I’m not much on kit, so I cant rate out of that. But applying for Woolwars with only 3 games isn’t really the best you could do in my opinion. I suggest playing more and being more active on a gamemode before applying for it.

thank you so much Nate!

Understandable, thank you for the feedback!

This is a well written application, but unfortunately, as the cute @boriswoop said, 3 games is hardly enough to moderate woolwars.

Woolwars is a unique game that requires a lot of knowledge and experience to understand. There are many kits that can look like hacks, and many bugs that can be exploited. There are also more chats than that of KITPVP, with party chat and all, so it takes a good deal of wisdom to moderate woolwars, and unfortunately I can’t see a reality where you have that knowledge.

For that reason, I’m giving a +1 on kit, but a -1 on woolwars :]

Hey iCory! You seem like a very nice person and I think you are on the right track, but your next step should be really making a name for yourself, and getting to know some staff. For now though, I will have to deny your application. I hope to see you apply again in the future!
