Even though I’m not banned I like to play on purgatory sometimes, I find it kinda fun actually. the only problem with it is that when you leave adventure mode you lose your inventory, and whenever you enter purgatory by default it puts you in troll mode, meaning you have to start from square 1 every time, is there a setting I can change or something I can do to get around this? if not would it possibly be considered to be added as a feature?
There is not a setting like this (at least not that I know of).
And I believe the current focus of the developers is on the main game modes, and not purgatory as purgatory is not really considered a gamemode.
Note: I could be wrong about everything above.

Thats the point of adventure mode. Anything you touch will be undid. It’s to give you the experience of what a banned player would feel, without beeing banned and without effecting it.

One of the reasons your items are reset are every time is to prevent unbanned players from going into adventure mode and helping hackers complete their punishment.
